Ashtyn Hutcheson

This is a watercolor painting of a portrait of my grandpa. One thing I really like about my piece is the different values I was able to get in the face and hair. Also, I really like how I was able to get the texture of the hair on the side of his head because in the picture it had lots of darks and lights. I used the element of color in this by using lots of red when mixing my colors for the skin because he had a lot of red undertones in the image. I really like the contrast between the tank top he is wearing and the background, also his hair with the compared to the background. I think with the contrast of the hair and tank top it creates a lot of emphasis on my grandpa, also the light blue background helps to emphasize my grandpa.
