Breadth Portfolio

I really liked how my pictures turned out for my breadth section. For editing I used a lot of contrast to the photos and sharpened them, to pull out the detail. My favorite image is probably my balance photo, I really like how it turned out with the overlay over it. My least favorite is the value one I wish I could have edited it a little better to really have the different values pop. I feel like I really tried to edit the photos and make them unique. Such as with the color one, I used the dropper tool to pull  the colors out of the M&Ms and put the colors on my hand, to add a cool effect. Also with the balance photo I reflected the image and put an overlay on it to create a unique image. I think that my breadth portfolio really demonstrates creativity, and I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone.

Concentration Project

My central idea for my concentration portfolio was the city of Leclaire, IA. I focused on what Leclaire is known for. I also added the black and white filter to bring the pictures together, I also felt like it added more value to the pictures. My concentration demonstrates the exploration of my idea because I really tried to focus on the little things of Leclaire that makes it what it is. Such as the little shops decorations, like in picture 4. My 12 pictures show a growth in my photography because I really tried to think about what I think about when I hear Leclaire, IA, instead of just taking a picture.

Quality Portfolio

I selected these images because I felt that they were my strongest images. I really thought about the angle of the image and how I wanted it to look before taking it. What makes it a good representation of my photography is again the fact that I didn't just take the picture to take it, I really focused on the way I wanted the picture to be seen. The editing of all the pictures in this portfolio have contrast and sharpening in their editing. I like to use the contrast because I feel like it makes you focus on the details, same with sharpening the image. Three out of the five are black and white, before this class I really didn't like using black and white, but I really feel that it makes the viewer think about the image more.
